Worried PCB shifts base to Dubai
PCB has finally found solution to the security concerns back home. UAE to be ‘home’ venue for Pakistan after PCB decides to hold all home matches for Pakistan in Dubai now in the wake of terrorist strikes in the country.
It has signed a three-year agreement to play its home One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 matches at the new Dubai Sports City.
The move comes with teams remaining reluctant to tour Pakistan because of concerns over terrorist attacks.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy originally scheduled for this month was postponed from Pakistan after teams like Australia, South Africa and England refused to tour the country.
Withdrawal of top teams has meant Pakistan has not played a single Test in all of 2008 with only minnows like Zimbabwe and Bangladesh playing in Pakistan this year.
The new deal could well mean the One-dayers and Twenty20 clash during India’s scheduled tour of Pakistan in early 2009 could also be played in Dubai.
